Summer, Water Views in the Yorks

Views – mostly of the water – from wanderings around the family heartland, York Maine.

My favorite connection with York is the ocean – whether you are on Long Sands or Short Sands, or over at the Harbor – the ocean is such a presence that it just soothes my soul.

These photos are from wanderings all over the Yorks – one of my favorites of this set is the lawn chairs with Boone Lighthouse in between the two.  I was walking by this house on Freeman Street and caught sight of the chairs through an open gate.  Figuring the owners would not appreciate me walking into their backyard for the picture I had to extend the zoom lens to the max – and then had to try many attempts at different settings to capture the chairs and the lighthouse.

I also love the two girls boogie-boarding in the surf.  This reminded me of my childhood summers where we would have a blast body surfing no matter what the water temperature was.  As I took this picture I could not help but wonder how cold that water was – it was just early June…[/ultimate_modal]
