Double Exposure Paris – Dark Days
Cloudy days in Paris are sometimes a challenge for Holga double exposures but the results can be really interesting.
Paris Double Exposure Holgas on a Cloudy Day
One trick that I’ll try is to set the lens exposure to manual – with that setting the lens remains open as long as you hold the shutter button down. This allows for more light into the camera but can often result in a shimmery type effect as the slightest movement of the camera results in the blur.
Double exposures on cloudy days can really be tricky as the darks become really dark and the lights can quickly turn to an overexposure – especially if the sky overlaps in the two images. You can see this in the images of the buildings in Oberkampf and the one from Canal St. Martin.
The images of the windows are from le Marais – not too far from our hotel. This was actually a very sunny day but I took these as I was returning to the room at dusk so the light was fading.
The double Eiffel and Statue of Liberty are two of my favorites from this set.
