Maroma Beach – Abandoned Mansion
I stumbled on this ruin of a mansion on Maroma Beach in Mexico – the concrete walls and roof were in good condition but there were no windows and no finishings in the house.
Maroma Beach - Abandoned Mansion
The concrete walls and roof were in good condition but there were no windows and no finishings in the house. The walls were bleached white and really popped against the jungle background.
The structure was quite large – much larger than I would expect for a private house, so I assumed it was an older resort that had fallen into disrepair. The bamboo thatched pagodas on the beach outside pointed in that direction as well.
The vegetation had overgrown the sides of the house and the inner courtyard was a small jungle with a lot of critters running about.
Moving through the house I got the creeps – felt like each time I entered a new room that there would be something or someone there waiting for me. What struck me odd is how clean the rooms were – what I mean by that is there were no studs in the walls. No windows or doors. No floorboards or tiles – just concrete everywhere.
I figured the house was ruined in some storm but most accounts say the house was never finished. The stories range from gangsters to local politician to a famous American that started the construction but never finished it.
